The Washington Post's Dr. Gridlock column of August 24, 2000 (Page V01) has an exchange between Linda Lofton and Dr. Gridlock regarding the need for a traffic signal at Glebe Road and 2nd Street South. The good news was that the Virginia Department of Transportation had approved a traffic signal for that location.
Followup:
On Thursday, September 7, Arlington County traffic engineer Joseph Durkee met with Arlington Heights Traffic Committee members Mike Braton, Doris Murray, Karl Schultz, Bryan Sieling (chair), plus Jay Wind of AHCA, Jerry Gideon of Alcova Heights, and Mark Dorfman of Thomas Jefferson Middle School PTA. All agreed that the County would install the new stoplight as soon as possible on temporary overhead wires, to be replaced eventually by permanent Carlyle-style stoplights as part of AHCA's Neighborhood Conservation proposal for 2nd Street.
