At long last, in the fall of 2004, contractors completed the work to install left turn lanes in all four directions at the intersection of Columbia Pike and Glebe Road. They also made streetscape improvements, including a new bus shelter, a protected left-turn lane into the Willston shopping center, Carlyle streetlights, and brick paver sidewalks.
It took a concerted effort by neighborhood activists in AHCA and other neighborhoods to keep the project on track.
The county had a celebration to commemorate the completion of the project on Oct 30th.
